How We Made the Index Network Launch Film
A 39-second launch film made from a public website, a music cue, and one focused round of feedback.
From brief to final cut.
Start with the source you can access
Index Network's app was invite-only, so we did not record a private product flow. We gave Ghostmotion the public site and asked it to use that site's own language and design. The brief set the energy, approximate length, and instruction to make the cuts and motion follow the music.
Record the public story
We spent about two and a half minutes scrolling the site, including its “how it works” cards. That recording supplied real, recognizable source material for the film. If you can record the app itself, do so; in this case the website was the available and honest source.
Choose the musical moment
We uploaded “American Boy” and initially marked a start about eight seconds into the track. The first version showed that the content and concept worked, but the images did not yet land with the beat. We moved the start another eight seconds, to where the drop and vocals begin.
Keep the concept; fix the timing
Our feedback named the part to preserve and the single problem to solve. We asked Ghostmotion to retain the rough story, start the music later, and restructure the full film around the new cue. One revision produced the 39-second version in the reel.
Three frames. One story.

Make the next cut better.
- A public website can provide a clear launch story when app access is unavailable; describe it as website footage.
- If the edit feels out of sync, specify the musical event and let the scene timing change with it.
- Tell Ghostmotion which parts already work so a narrow revision stays narrow.
